Who is the course for?

This 1-day course is aimed at all those who have a responsibility for the assessment of service users and completion of care plans and documentation

Aims of the course

Provide candidates with the knowledge and practical skills to confidently complete service user assessments and care plans

The course contains

Legal roles and responsibilities of record keeping and risk assessment

Accountability

The principles of risk assessment

Care planning

Report writing and keeping effective records

Health and safety vs. service user requests

Practical risk assessment with problem solving including:

Manual handling

Bed rails

Falls

Seating

Wheelchairs and lap belts

Tissue viability and nutrition

Environments and their suitability for clients with impaired mobility

How is learning assessed?

Completion of care plans and risk assessments – certificate of attendance issued

Competent Risk Assessor Certificate

Candidates who would like to gain a certificate of competence may complete and submit an assignment for assessment
