Who is the course for?

The Department of Health’s (DOH) code of practice requires everyone involved in health provision needs to tackle the risk of Health Care Acquired Infection (HCAI) This 1-day course is aimed at care sector workers in hospitals, care homes and the community both in the private and public sectors.

Aims of the course

Based on the first part of the CIEH level 2 award in health and safety in the workplace it also includes CIEH level 2 award in hygiene (as described below) To introduce candidates to health and safety in a health and social care context.

The course contains

The main hazards and risks to service users and care givers including cross infection and hygiene issues

Principles of accident prevention

Controls in respect of safety and occupational health

The importance of following safe systems, procedures and rules

Legislative requirements
